Dear Mr. President,
It saddens me to
say that I didn't vote for you. In fact, I'm a 31 year old woman, and
I've never voted in a presidential election. The only time I've
actually been in the US for an election, I had just given birth, so
it wasn't really on my mind. All the other times, the absentee date
has just passed me by. A part of me let it pass though, because my
American history teacher once told us that if you are uninformed, you
should not vote. An uninformed vote is worse than a wasted vote. I
had never really cared enough to educate myself.
I have to admit
that I am concerned about your election, Mr. President. Some things
came out about you during the campaign that sound like you might not
respect a lot of your voting public. I'm worried that now people will
see you accepting prejudices and think it's okay to be prejudiced
toward religious, racial, or sexual groups. Mr. President, as a woman
with a daughter, I am concerned. I hope no one will ever think it is
okay to see her naked or touch her vagina without her permission.
I know these are
all fears that have not come to pass, Mr. President, and I'm sure
most of them will be found to be baseless. So, I want to say that
even though I didn't vote for you and am a bit concerned, I don't
wish you ill . You now speak for all of us, Sir. Good luck.
